Finding the best treadmill to buy shouldn’t be a difficult
thing to do. Treadmills have long been touted as a major
player in the health and fitness field and for good reason.
They are relatively compact, promote vital cardiovascular
benefits, and are simple to use. Not to mention you don’t
have to get in the car and run to the gym! The only thing
left is to find the right treadmill for you. Here are a few
treadmill keys.
First, check with your doctor that this is an appropriate
health regimen for you to embark upon. It probably is, or
you wouldn’t be reading this! Next, check the motor and see
of it is powerful enough for your needs as relates to
weight. Most brands offer several options in this area.
Health monitoring features such as heart rate monitors are
an added benefit to keep track of your progress. The ability
to store the treadmill economically is a plus also, and
sturdy hand rails and easy on/off benefits add to your
experience.
Other features that you may want to consider include safety
features, shock absorption, variable speeds, calorie
counters (to tell you just how hard you’ve been working!)
time/distance calculators, and of course a reasonable
guarantee/warranty. The motor should be have a warranty of
at least 2 years, and the more the better. Some are as long
as ten years. Shop around.
Buying a treadmill online can be very easy. Not only can it
save you money, but you can usually come up with good deals
on shipping. Take your time and compare, and then start
walking!

Treadmills are one of the best ways to get yourself on the road
to cardiovascular health and achieve and maintain a healthy
weight. While they come with a variety of prices and features,
they are definitely NOT all created equal.

Buying a treadmill is a fairly big investment, so it is
important to know what you want, how much you are willing to
pay, and what type of quality and features you are looking for.

There are several factors you should consider when shopping
online or in-store for a treadmill. There are also several
brands that make treadmills. Reebok, ProForm, Horizon, New
Balance and others are some of the top brands on the market
today, and they usually can be counted on for quality and
durability. For the sake of simplicity, I’ll list the features
to consider when shopping for a treadmill and briefly discuss
their importance.

Treadmill Features

1.) Motor – Preferably a 2.5 horsepower or more. Any less than
this quite frankly will be a disappointment as far as
performance and product lastability.

2.) Space saving option. In other words, does it fold up for
easy storage if this is what you want?

3.) Console display features.

4.) Speed control. Can you go up in speed in increments, or
little by little. If it’s the latter, this can be frustrating.

5.) Magazine or book holder for easy reading while you’re
walking or running.

6.) Non-slip belt.

7.) Belt padding, otherwise known as shock absorption. This is
very important, as it will protect your joints and help to avoid
soreness and muscle fatigue. It reduces the risk of injury in
runners as well.

8.) Incline position control.

9.) Noise control. No one wants a noisy machine. It’s
distracting and annoying.

10.) Additional statistical data such as heart rate, calories
burned and special interactive fitness programs.

11.) Good warranty.

12.) Spacious walking surface.

13.) Helpful hint: If you spend $200 or less, chances are you
may be disappointed in the product’s performance and sturdiness.
Most reviews of the cheaper treadmills are very negative, and
most consumers state they wish they’d invested a little more to
get a higher quality product. The phrase “you get what you pay
for” is definitely applicable in the purchase of a treadmill.

As you can see, there are quite a few considerations in
purchasing a treadmill. If you cannot find exactly what you want
in the stores, try shopping online. There are usually some great
prices and selections on the internet that you may not be able
to find in stores. Take advantage of any customer reviews on
these products as well. It’s an excellent way to see how well
you will like the product if you choose to purchase it.

A quality treadmill will be built to last and made of extremely
durable material and quality parts – especially the motor, which
is a key component to a treadmill’s lifespan. This is truly a
product that you will want to invest some time and extra cash on
to get what you really want, and make it last.

If you want to be able to walk or run regardless of the weather you might be in the market for a treadmill. However, when you are actually buying a treadmill the number of different options may be confusing and it can be difficult to decide which is your best buy. The ideal buying process is to first research and evaluate, then purchase.

Research first

Before buying a treadmill, work out what you will actually use one for and understand how the available features meet these needs. Consider the following:

Operation – Powered or manual; manual is less expensive but powered treadmills offer more features and convenience in adjustments.
Convenience – Foldable, wheels, self locking storage latch, self unfolding; more convenience equals more price.
Safety – Weight limit, child lock, hand rails, automatic stop; if you have children or exercise alone safety features can be a key factor.
Frame – Steel, plastic, or aircraft-quality aluminum over wood.

Evaluate suitable Treadmills

When weighing up the pros and cons of different treadmills, measure them against your needs. If you are an occasional exerciser who only walks on your treadmill once or twice a week, then a manualbudgettreadmill with a plasticfamemay suffice. If you walkmore frequently you will want to consider better constructed machines with frames made from steelor aircraft quality aluminum. Which treadmill to choose is just one of the issues you should consider but you should also look closely at the others.

Purchase the best Treadmill for your needs

You have a number of choices when it comes to the actual purchase of the treadmill. Each has advantages and disadvantages, and these may be influenced by your individual taste and previous buying experience. Staff at specialized fitness equipment and sports stores may offer the most knowledgeable advice, but prices on the internet are often better. Experienced salespeople can be invaluable if you are still unsure about whether to get a treadmill with internet download capacity or a programmable exerciseroutine option. This is one of the final issues to think about before handing over your hard-earned cash but things such as warranties, guarantees or possible buying traps should also be considered.

Tip: It’s always a good idea to actually try out the treadmill you are thinking of buying. Wear comfortable clothes and do a shorter version of the workout you’re planning to do. If you walk, walk. If you will run, run. Is the beltsmooth? Does it squeak? Are the handlesat a comfortable level? Is the console easy to useas you do your workout? Use the answers to these questions to assess how well the treadmill compares to others on your shortlist.

When shopping for a treadmill, it is important to know the facts in advance. Sales and advertised specials will not always assure that you get the best price on a high quality treadmill. There are many different brands and types of treadmill and finding the one that will best suit your needs can be frustrating, especially when you consider how many different features and functions are available. People often pay a premium price for a treadmill only to find they do not use or require most of the extra equipment and accessories that are included.
If you are purchasing a treadmill to simply give yourself a convenient way to exercise in your home and are not a serious athlete or runner, a basic motorized treadmill with standard features will suit your needs perfectly. It would not be a wise investment to spend extra money on numerous accessories and features that you rarely use, if ever. A good quality, basic treadmill will cost a minimum of $600 and the price goes up from there. There are less expensive models available, but if the brand and style you choose will not last for a long period of time, then you will have to replace it and you will spend more money in the long run.
Runners and frequent users can expect to pay $1500 dollars or more for a professional quality treadmill. A more powerful motor and extra features such as a steeper incline and a highly rated cushioning system will be well worth the additional cost if you train extensively on your treadmill. No matter which type of treadmill you choose you should make certain the belt is a minimum of 18 inches wide and at least 50 inches long. The control panel should be within easy reach and have a prominent display. A treadmill is a major purchase. Make certain you choose the model that suits your needs and has an excellent warranty.

When you’re searching for a treadmill for your home or club,
you’ll find Star Trac treadmills at the top of your shopping
list, and for good reason. StarTrac has garnered a
reputation for quality and superior machines since their
appearance on the treadmill scene in the 70′s, and has
become sort of the Cadillac of treadmills. The TR4500HR
treadmill is another in their line of great exercise
machines.
Star Trac treadmills offer many features, and this one is no
exception. Weighing in at a solid 284 lbs., the 4500 measures
a healthy 20″x62″, thus affording the user room to move! I’m
a big guy, and I appreciated the roominess. The unit has a
maximum user capacity of 350 lbs. Powered by a 2.5hp
continuous speed motor, the Star Trac TR4500HR is capable of
speeds from 0-10 mph, and inclines from 0-15%, (for those of
you with a death wish!) the 4500 is primed with all the
power you need for a great workout! For ease on your knees,
the 4500 features the Impact Absorption System, IAS, which
cushions impact on your ankles, knees, hip and back.
Star Trac treadmills feature a useful and easy to use
display, with a heart rate monitoring system that you can
tie into your target training zone, as well as hundreds of
pre-programmed training selections, all the while recording
your time, distance, speed, calories, laps and pace. The
unit also features a built-in rack for towels, water and
even a stereo, and can handle up to 50 different user id’s.
The in-home warranty is one year parts on the motor and 6
months labor, as well as 90 days on the wearable parts
(grips, belts, pads) and lifetime phone support. I found
this warranty a mite skimpy for a treadmill with it’s
reputation and price (around $6000 but you can do better)
but all in all, for all the bells and whistles that the Star
Trac TR4500HR treadmill brings to the table, you’d be hard
pressed to find a better machine.

Awide variety of treadmills available in the market would perplex you greatly when you gear up to buy one for your home. And it is quite a task to choose a brand. In such a situation what comes handy to you, is doing comparison of features of various brands.

Once you compare treadmills you get to know relative advantages and disadvantages of various brands and models. If you are packed with pros and cons of different models, you can easily pick out best suited model for your home. And that too, within your budget!

You do comparing by making self effort as you need to find out the best possible way to do so. For you can’t keep knocking at every retailer or tread store to make acquaintance with all models and brands. In my view, going through consumer reviews is the best possible way to compare treadmills. Most of these reviews happen to be impartial in their analysis of brands, so you can rely on information about features and parts given by these reviews.

Instead, you can also seek suggestions of your physical fitness trainer.

Other option for you is to go through product reviews. Usually these reviews are extended by experts and physical fitness trainers who are rather adept in understanding advantageous features of a tread model. If a renowned and credible expert is making a statement about a model, you can have faith in him/her. They tend to critically examine features of a model. They often give rating to products.

Online probing could be an easiest way to do comparison. You can visit official sites of all leading manufacturers. From there you can download detailed features of models. Later on you can compare various brands with downloaded information.

While doing comparison you should look into key components and warranty period. If you have a fair idea of your budget comparison would be much easier to you.

An authentic way of comparing tread parts could trial exercises on two or three treadmills that you have short listed for yourself. You can go for one that gives you best possible comfort on trial workout.

You must not do cross genre comparison. A cheap treadmill should be compared with another cheap treadmill instead of a high quality treadmill. Similarly a home treadmill must not be compared with a commercial grade treadmill. Dissimilar comparisons would lead you to nowhere.

Having a fair idea of budget and needs happen to be a prerequisite of doing comparison of treadmills.
Go through comparison to buy best possible treadmill. Good Luck.

Treadmills are personalized equipment – a treadmill that works well for one may turn out to be a back breaker for another. While buying a treadmill, it is good to go through the manual and see whether it has the features you desire. It is even better if you try out the treadmill for a while before zeroing in on the purchase.Among treadmills, the most expensive is not necessarily the best. It all depends on what exercises you are looking to do. If you want to walk, then a belt with a lesser width and length would do just fine. For exercises such as jogging and sprinting, wider and longer belts are required. While buying treadmills, the most important parts to be considered are the deck and the belt. The belt must be free to rotate without jagging or sagging, and must not tilt to one side as it runs along. The deck must be heavy enough to remain unmoved on the floor, without getting the leveling disturbed again and again.Safety features must also be considered, especially if there are children. Certain treadmills require keys to operate. Also check that the handrails are within reach while working out. Gripping the handrail must not create undue pressure.Consider how many people at home are going to use the treadmill before using it. If there is more than one person, then it is better to go for one which has customized controls for each person. In features such as heartbeat and blood pressure counter, identification with passwords at the computer console enables you to keep track of your personal information without confusing it with others’. Also, if multiple people are going to work out on the treadmill, it is better to purchase a sturdier one, even though it may be more expensive. Maintenance should also be undertaken more often.Judging by the opinions of treadmill users, Landice and Smooth remain favorites. Landice is an old hand in the business, and has changed very little. Landish treadmills are still quite conservative when it comes to features, though now they are putting in several appealing modifications. Landice treadmills are also quite expensive. Smooth treadmills remain preferable for home users. They are sleek and can also work for a fairly good amount of time. Weslo is a good brand, and its treadmills are often priced at the lower end of the spectrum, making them economically viable buys.It is important to check out what warranties are provided by treadmill manufacturers before purchasing. Treadmills contain moving parts, such as the motor, deck and belt, which makes them more susceptible to malfunction.Treadmills provides detailed information about treadmills, treadmill reviews, best treadmills, used treadmills and more. Treadmills is the sister site of Big Muscles.
